James Whetzel has a new DJ mix playing in the International Fountain and in the background in the Center House. The mix plays in the Intl. Fountain when the Big Show is not playing; the Big Show is where the fountain shoots off large jets of water and has its own music. The Big Show plays every half hour on the hour and half hour for 5 - 10 minutes. James Whetzel’s DJ mix plays the rest of the time.
Artists in this week’s mix, the Sunshine in Seattle in April Mix, include:
Herb Alpert vs. Ozomatli, Benny Goodman, The Jesters, Mint Royale, Ghostland Observatory, Phillip Glass, Wax Stag, Ratatat, Run DMC, Duke Ellington Orchestra, Astor Piazzolla & The New Tango Quintet, and J-Dilla.

And what the heck, here is another one, James is so glad he found out about this little piece of Seattle Garage Rock from the 60s that he wants to spread it far and wide! Here then is a link to the instrumental “Alki Point” by The Jesters:

James also wants the world to know that he did some special editing on the Run DMC instrumental in the mix so that it would be clean for public performance. It was necessary to edit out a little Sam Kinison sample . . .

James Whetzel has a new mix playing at the Seattle Center. The mix plays in the background of the Center House and in the International Fountain when the “Big Show” music is not playing. The Big Show plays every half hour on the hour and half hour and is the water display in which the fountain shoots off large blasts of water.
This year at the Cherry Blossom festival there are some skaters coming from Japan to do skating demos at the festival, and there is an emphasis on Hapa (mixed culture, half Japanese half other) culture. So the mix reflects this and is more high energy with some Japanese and Hapa rock, hip hop, electronica, and Hapa samba.
Artists in the mix include: DJ Krush, MC Kan, Curumin, Teriyaki Boyz, Kiyoshi Graves, Cornelius, B’z, and Inden.
Here’s a link to one of the tracks: “Sambito” by Curumin.
